FSA leads the way
The FSA will lead a two year pilot project to test the delivery of the UK's first national Money Guidance service.
The Thoresen Review of Generic Financial Advice, which was launched last year, reccomended that the FSA should lead a Pathfinder programme to set up a servicve offering free, impartial information and guidance on money matters.
The service will work in partnership with a range of organisations that are experienced in delivering Money Guidance.
The government said it plans to respond further to the Thoresen report in its financial capability action plan later in the spring.
Chris Pond, Director of Financial Capability for the FSA, said: 'It will ba a case of teh FSA coordinating those pilots and bring in other players such as Citizens Advice which has a money-plan project and it is getting a lot IFAs to help them on a pro-bono basis, to provide advice for people who cannot afford it.
